Here at Sensation Band we know that getting married is kind of a big deal. We also know that even if you’re planning a “small and intimate” event, there’s a lot to organise. From finding THE dress to sourcing the perfect venue, agonising over the seating plan and finding the best band for your wedding.
That is precisely why we have put together our top tips when it comes to getting the best out of your entertainment.
Top Tips for Finding the Best Band for a Wedding
#1 Start looking early
There are many things that you need to consider when finding the perfect entertainment, whether that be a band (a party band, duo or cover band) or a DJ. You need to take the size of the venue in to consideration, how the sound is going to travel and who your guests are.
With so much to think about you need to make sure that you give yourself plenty of time to consider all the different options and work out what you want the answers to all these questions to be. In turn this will give you the opportunity to look around and work out what best suits you, your venue, your style, your theme and your budget.
Equally, really good bands can be booked up to 12 months in advance, especially during peak wedding periods. Looking early gives you the opportunity to potentially book early and make sure you don’t miss out on the entertainment of your dreams.
#2 Think about going off-peak
As mentioned above there are high peak periods when it comes to weddings. If you consider going off peak then there is a good chance that you will be able to get a reduction. This goes for the band and general entertainment but also when it comes to the venue, catering and of course the all-important honeymoon.
Even if you are determined to get married in summer, consider a mid-week wedding date to take advantage of any offers and special discounts that may be available.
#3 What time do you want the party to start?
No matter how much planning you put in to it things never go 100% according to plan when it comes to wedding timings. Therefore make sure you build in a degree of wiggle-room. Speak to your band, or their manager, to discuss what, in their experience, works best.
It might be worth asking if they can do an early set while photographs are being taken to ensure your guests have entertainment while everyone else is busy posing. This is a great way to take guests minds off the fact that they haven’t eaten yet!
# 4 The venue
Some venues have restrictions when it comes to noise pollution for their neighbours or other guests staying with them if it’s a hotel. These are important things to consider when looking at entertainment.
#5 Trust your band
The whole point of hiring a professional band for a wedding is that you can utilise their experience and knowledge. A good band will of course take in to account any favourites that you want to have played, but they will also have the experience to know what works and what doesn’t. Let them run with it and your dancefloor is bound to be full!
