No matter what the event, throwing a party can be an expensive experience. If you are going to spend that amount of money on an event you want to make sure that it is going to be perfect – whatever your definition of that might be. For many people the definition of a successful party will be how much people have enjoyed themselves, and how long they remain talking about the event long after the empty bottles have been cleared away.
Arguably one of the best ways to ensure that this is the case is to spend time thinking about the entertainment you are going to book for the night. While some people may want to go for a traditional DJ, others look to hiring a band for a party atmosphere. However, if you have no experience of organising such entertainment, or working with bands then it can be hard to know where to start.
Things to consider when you are booking a Live band for a party
The first thing you are going to want to consider is the type of event you are holding. This in turn will dictate the type of guests that will be attending, which might have a huge influence on the musical style that you are going to be able to pick. You wouldn’t, for example, hire a rock band to play at your Gran’s 80th, unless she was in to that sort of thing of course!
Most parties will have a theme and if they do then this needs to be taken in to consideration as well. If you are going to be having a vintage tea dance then there is no point in hiring a band that only plays songs from the 80s or an ABBA tribute act.
The location of your event is also going to be vitally important as well when it comes to costing your event. The further a band has to travel the more it is likely to cost you – so consider whether you want to be stuck with only being able to choose from local bands, or if you have the budget to spread your search a little further.
The whole point of hiring a band, regardless of their genre, is that people will be able to hear them. You therefore need to consider the layout of the venue as well as the acoustics. Will the band you are hiring bring their own sound system or will they be reliant on what is already in place?
Finally, and while it may seem incredibly boring when you’re trying to get in the party spirit you do need to think about insurance. If you are hiring a professional band such as Sensation Band then you should expect them to have public liability insurance amongst other things to help protect you and your guests should something go wrong. Don’t be afraid to ask about this when you make your initial enquiries.
